Brian Hirschfield, AFIAP, ARPS, APAGB better known as 'H'
I started Photography at the end of the Second World War at a time when cameras, film, paper and chemicals were either non-existent or in very short supply. 10 ISO was a high film speed and basic Hypo when obtainable cost 52 p for a 25 kilo tub.
Things changed over the years and as with most others I surfaced as a digital user around 5 years ago. However, even then I preferred to use film and scan into Photoshop for digital printing. The printing was originally via an Epson 1160 using Jon Cone's Piezography system with four 'black' inks - indeed, virtually all my International Salon acceptances were made in that way. Now an Epson R2400 is used!
What cameras? You name them! However, the main ones over the years were the Praktica system, the Olympus OM system and then Canon, ending up with the 5D (and an EOS 620 in order to continue using Infrared film!)
As to what I enjoy taking that is simple - whatever I see that looks as though it will make a picture. I emphasise the word 'make' - a picture should be made not just taken.
As this is a new blog each different aspect of my work will be loaded bit by bit - just look at the choices.
